For extreme temperature and/or aggressive chemicals, graphite gasket sheet material is often the answer. Graphite is soft, compressible, and conforms readily to imperfections in the faces of flanges or other surfaces being sealed. Gasket & Seal can supply flexible graphite sheet from manufacturers like Deminas in sizes up to 60” square and thicknesses from 1/32” to ¼”. (Thicker graphite is available on request.)

Graphite gasket material is almost pure carbon with the atomic structure arranged to form a soft, slippery material. To increase strength and reduce creep, graphite is often laminated with steel foil, wire mesh or stainless steel “tang” material. (Tangs are little hooks stamped into the steel that help hold the graphite layers in place.)

Styles :

 M1 : Graphite sheets DEMIGRAPH® type М1 are manufactured using whole range of  DEMIGRAPH® graphite foils followed by further reinforcement with a 0.05 mm (.002") thick plain 316 stainless steel insert bonded with the use of adhesive layer for improved handling and mechanical strength. Sheets provide great chemical resistance, high elasticity and thermal stability and are recommended for basic sealing applications including steam.

 P1 : Graphite sheets DEMIGRAPH® type P1 are manufactured using a whole range of  DEMIGRAPH® graphite foils followed by further reinforcement with a 0.1 mm (.004") thick tanged 316 stainless steel insert to enhance surface load and blow-out safety. Sheets are designed to provide reliable long-term service and suitable for most industrial fluid sealing applications. Due to high thermal and mechanical resistance DEMIGRAPH® sheets type P1 are a perfect solution for applications with drastic thermal changes and pressure fluctuations.

 N  : Graphite sheets DEMIGRAPH® type N are manufactured using a whole range of  DEMIGRAPH® graphite foils which are characterized by low content of Sulphur, chlorine and other halogens with further processing to the form of sheets of the required thickness. Sheets efficiently withstand temperature changes and most chemical medias. Non-reinforced graphite sheets DEMIGRAPH® are best choice when complicated design or immediate reparation works are required as well as usage in sensitive flange materials.
